In Microsoft Official MSDN Library, they announced that, the data types (nText , Text, and Image) will be removed in future version of Microsoft SQL Server.

Therefore, they advice all the developers on SQL Server to not use these data types, and instead, they advice to use VarChar(Max), nVarChar(Max) and VarBinary(Max).

The current supported version for these discontinued data types so far is SQL Server 2012.

The reason for discontinuing with these data types that, the size limit of all of them cannot exceed the 2^30 – 1 (1,073,741,823) bytes (almost 2 GB), while the VarChar(Max), nVarChar(Max) and VarBinary(Max) have no storage limits defined yet.
